Key Takeaways

Market and cultural differences need to be accounted for in UX and interface design. What might look excessive in one market might look normal or even lacking in another. While the European market veers towards minimalism, the Chinese market prefers maximalism with feature rich and vibrant looking offerings.

KeyTasks

  1. Statusbar

Structure vs. Freedom: Building a product that felt both structured enough to use daily and flexible enough to adapt to real life without becoming rigid or overwhelming. Simplicity at Scale: Designing complex adaptive user flows that felt effortless on the surface, with every screen supporting easy re-entry and short check-ins. Developer-Ready Polish: Delivering high-fidelity screens and a clear product architecture ready for handoff, testing, and development from day one.

  2. Widgets

Structure vs. Freedom: Building a product that felt both structured enough to use daily and flexible enough to adapt to real life without becoming rigid or overwhelming.

Prototyping microinteractions

Figma prototypes were vital even for early exploration to understand how micro-interactions can be a part of user experience and not a nice afterthought. It also helped understand how multiple moving parts constructed across various sub-teams worked together as one comprehensive system.

Widgets

Automotive UX has evolved beyond maps and music. Customers in East Asian markets prefer more maximalist UI with more information and graphical elements. Zeekr's flagship 9X SUV featured and expansive dual 16" screens created the opportunity for something more expressive and customizable. We allowed users to add widgets to their vehicle homescreens. These widgets are designed with a careful balance of information, graphics, and animations to keep them interesting, informative, and distraction free.
